Some families become part of your story as much as you become part of theirs.
This one has been with me for years now. From windswept walks at Camber Sands (twice!), to photographing their legal wedding ceremony at the Archbishop’s Palace in Maidstone, and now capturing a snippet of real life in an at-home session in Boxley, Kent. Every chapter has felt just as meaningful as the last.
There’s something incredibly special about being invited back, again and again, to document the evolution of a family. No one is fearing the camera, the rhythm feels familiar and natural, trust has deepened, and the focus shifts entirely to connection and enjoyment rather than posing. And this session was exactly that!

This shoot took place at Holly’s mum’s home in Boxley, where the garden itself plays a starring role. Alongside her mum, Holly runs Peonies and Moore, a floristry business rooted quite literally in this space. The flowers grown here go on to become bouquets, installations, and wedding arrangements across Kent, but at their heart, they begin as part of everyday family life.
Photographing among the garden beds, blooms, and familiar pathways felt deeply fitting. This wasn’t just a beautiful location, it was their place. A space layered with work, creativity, family history, and love. Those details matter. They always do.

When you’ve photographed a family over many years, something shifts. Children grow more confident. Parents don’t shy away from the camera. The session becomes less about “what do we do?” and more about simply being together and having fun!
This is where my work feels most honest.
We didn’t rush. We wandered, chatted, laughed, and let moments unfold naturally. No forced smiles. No expectations. Just a family, at home, surrounded by the things they love.
These are the sessions that quietly remind me why I do this.
Not every chapter needs a milestone attached to it. Sometimes, the most meaningful sessions happen in the in-between. When life feels full, familiar, and worth remembering exactly as it is.
Whether it’s a beach you return to, a garden you’ve nurtured over years, or a home filled with stories, these places become part of your family history. Photographing them is about more than how things look. It’s about how they feel.
And getting to tell that story for the same family, time and time again, is something I’ll never take for granted.
If you’re drawn to relaxed, natural family photography in Kent, whether at home, outdoors, or somewhere that holds significance for you, I’d love to hear your ideas.
Because the best locations are often the ones already woven into your story.
