When I tell you that this wedding was colourful, I mean it was COLOURFUL!
The lovely Emily and Matt, who are both based and living in Indonesia, planned a wonderful, Indonesian-inspired, back-garden wedding for themselves and their favourite people, surrounded by lots of colours, delicious food and drink, and a wonderfully fun Mariachi band!
“An Indonesian-inspired, colourful & vibrant back-garden, Tipi Wedding”
The day started with Matt and a few close friends putting together the finishing touches on the sound equipment and seating arrangements, before heading up to the main house to join the ladies (and some fantastically dressed Gentlemen!) to finish getting ready!
I loved that Matt and Emily completely threw tradition out the window for their colourful, summer, wedding day.
The couple helped each other with the finishing touches to their (awesomely unique) outfits before making their way down the garden to join their guests in a pre-Ceremony drink before the big “I Do’s”!
The Mariachi band kept guests entertained for a few quick bevvy’s before everyone took to their seats – drinks in hand! – for the main event; the Ceremony!
The Ceremony was performed by a close friend of the couple who spoke with such grace and love. There were two wonderfully scripted and presented speeches along with a song performed by yet more beautifully dressed guests!
After some wonderful words were spoken, the couple participated in a handfasting Ceremony (where the couple’s hands were bound together using beautiful strips of fabric with the help of their parents) before making their way back up the aisle, closely followed by the Mariachi band to play them out!
The rest of the day was spent drinking and celebrating in the glorious garden sunshine.
There were a few games of croquet and plenty of self-poured beers enjoyed in the sunshine before the rain came and sent everyone running for the shelter of the beautiful, yellow tipi!
Emily, the Bride, wore a wonderfully vibrant, hand-embroidered gown she’d found in Indonesia along with an incredible, bespoke headdress! While Matt, the Groom, wore a traditional morning suit that once belonged to his Father. There was so much sentiment, love and colour poured into this day – it would have been hard not to smile!
For the latter part of the day, there was even a quick outfit change and, let’s just say, there were plenty of sparkles and lots of cheers when the couple made their way back out onto the Dancefloor to kickstart the evening’s party!
