There’s something deeply special about photographing a couple as they move through life’s biggest moments. And when those milestones span from wedding vows to parenthood? That’s the kind of full-circle magic I’ll never stop being grateful for.

Recently, I had the joy of capturing a maternity session for Camilla and Matt who are former wedding clients, now preparing to welcome their first baby. And this one felt extra close to home… quite literally!

A Full-Circle Moment

Camilla and I actually grew up on the same street in Maidstone, Kent. So, to be welcomed back into her life all these years later, trusted once again to document something so personal and meaningful, is something I’ll never take for granted. It’s these kinds of connections – the ones that span decades and chapters – that make this work feel truly profound.

Why Walmer Beach?

While Camber Sands and Botany Bay are my usual go-to-beaches, this particular session took place on Walmer Beach in Deal, Kent, just a stone’s throw from Camilla’s (now) parents’ house.
It’s a stretch of coastline that feels peaceful, calming, and unpolished in all the right ways. There’s a quiet beauty to Deal that makes it perfect for relaxed, emotive maternity portraits.

As the sun dipped behind the clouds and the tide gently rolled in, we walked the pebbled shoreline, laughed about old memories, and celebrated all the new ones waiting just around the corner.

A Personal Touch: Tiny Knitted Booties

One of the most heartwarming moments of the session came when Camilla pulled out a tiny pair of hand-knitted baby booties that had been lovingly made by her mum and soon to be Grandma! So we simply had to find the perfect way to incorporate them into a few photos!
It was such a quiet but powerful reminder of the generational love already surrounding this baby before they’ve even arrived.
